Mitt Romney campaigns for John McCain in Pennsylvania. (Maybe Romney’s not auditioning for Veep in 2008, but for President in 2012?) Either way, I guess. The Grand Old Party seems to nominate Mr. Next-in-Line everytime.
When people make the case for Romney as the Veep nominee, they make note of his business acumen, his executive experience, his hair… But they never mention another obvious asset: His checkbook. If McCain put Romney on the ticket, he wouldn’t have to worry about being outspent by Obama. (This is not me arguing for Romney, by the way. I don’t trust him.)
