Monogram of Jesus covered up at White House request
April 17th, 2009 by Josh Mercer
When President Obama spoke this past week at Georgetown University, an allegedly Catholic institution, the White House requested that all Georgetown insignias and symbols be covered, according to CNSNews.com.
Seems the Presidents like the idea of speaking at Catholic universities, so long as there’s no pesky references to Jesus.
The White House is now blaming the flap on the Star Spangled Banner, but CNSNews.com also notes that Laura Bush spoke at Georgetown without covering up the “IHS” monogram.

Fabled phoenix FOCA fanned into new flame
March 6th, 2009 by Matthew Bowman
A mythical United States Congressman from New York, Jerry “Loch Ness” Nadler, is going to reintroduce Barack Obama’s “mythical” Freedom of Choice Act “sooner rather than later,” according to his mythical spokesman Ilan “Sasquatch” Kayatsky. Senator “Bigfoot” Boxer is expected to follow suit–it’s a mythical “priority” for them, and for their new President.
Urban Legend expert Michael “Stokes Prometheus’ Fire” Paulsen explained how this mythical FOCA would be disastrous for the Land of Nod.
Several alleged critics were skeptical, however. Their existence could not be verified to obtain a comment, but it is rumored that Time Magazine’s ficticious “reporter” Amy “Narcissus” Sullivan has already begun Calliap-orating on an article, working with storybook “Catholics” from Commonweal “Magazine,” David “Phantom” Gibson, Eduardo “Bogeyman” Peñalver and Cathleen “Specter” Kaveny.
Their inspired tome is expected to muse upon how the Catholic Bishops should relocate to Roswell, New Mexico and stop wasting their time fighting imaginary ghouls like abortion. That way, “real-world” pro-life Catholics like themselves and Kathleen Sebelius can get down to the important business of defining their own concept of the universe and resolving the “mystery” of which human beings have a right to life.

Why Joe?
September 23rd, 2008 by Brian Burch
For all the gripes about the media from the right, the Obama campaign can’t be very happy about the growing questions about Joe Biden as his vice presidential candidate. Stories about the lack of press attention for Biden and now the public disagreements between the two Democrats seem to be building.
For what it’s worth, the Snopes still shows the “Biden to step down” rumor officially as “undetermined.”
Bill Clinton’s appearance on both The View and Letterman in the last day both exuded pro-Hillary behavior, while the Matt Lauer interview being discussed today is the latest in a series of “what the heck is Joe Biden doing on the ticket” oriented stories.
Also of interest, watch at about 4:47 into the interview. Obama is asked about Hillary. As he attempts to describe their relationship, he almost calls her a friend, but checks himself.

The debate on “community organizer”
September 9th, 2008 by Josh Mercer
Supporters of Barack Obama are wise to emphasize that he gave up a lucrative Wall Street job to become a community organizer, to help people who had lost a job.
It’s also fair for Republicans to point out that the career move wasn’t purely altruistic. That in fact it’s an ingenious way to embark on a political career in the South Side of Chicago.
Democrats are fuming that Rudy Guiliani and Sarah Palin were so dismissive of the job of a community organizer. The attacks were tough, but fair, because it was obvious that Obama’s camp was overplaying that role in his life to distract attention away from his thin political resume.
Liberals even brought about a Biblical challenge: “Jesus was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor.”
Kinda funny, but also plays into the whole Messianic feel of Obama’s campaign.
Besides, Mark Hemingway has a great rejoinder to this: ”It demonstrates a total lack of Biblical literacy. Pilate merely voted ‘present.’”

Obama airs abortion ads, what say you Kmiec?
September 3rd, 2008 by Josh Mercer
Doug Kmiec continues to insist that pro-lifers should vote for Obama. (Huh?) Maybe he should turn on his TV.
Politico is reporting that Barack Obama is blasting John McCain all over the airwaves for opposing abortion:
OBAMA: I’m Barack Obama, candidate for president, and I approved this message.
VAL BARON: As a nurse practitioner with Planned Parenthood, I know abortion is one of the most difficult decisions a woman will ever make. I’m Val Baron. Let me tell you: If Roe v Wade is overturned, the lives and health of women will be put at risk. That’s why this election is so important. John McCain’s out of touch with women today. McCain wants to take away our right to choose. That’s what women need to understand. That’s how high the stakes are.
ANNCR: As president, John McCain will make abortion illegal. McCain says quote, “I do not support Roe v. Wade. It should be overturned.” And listen to McCain’s answer on Meet the Press:
RUSSERT: “A constitutional amendment to ban all abortions. You’re for that?”
McCAIN: “Yes, sir.”
VAL BARON: We can’t let John McCain take away our right to choose. We can’t let him take us back.
ANNCR: Paid for by Obama for America.
So, is this just one commercial, made for YouTube, that’s never actually aired on a real television set?
No.
Ben Smith of Politico reports: “One Colorado reader said he’d heard it about a dozen times Tuesday — signs of a large buy.”
Between all these TV ads and McCain’s strong pro-life running mate, apparently Doug Kmiec will be the only American confused about which ticket will improve things for unborn children and which presidential ticket will make it much, much worse.
